Ever since smelling the essential oil of balsam peru--derived from a South American tree resin--we've wanted to create a lip balm using this spicy, deeply sensual scent. Jeni Britton of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams used the oil to enhance the warm notes of her vanilla-cedar flavored ice cream she sold during the holidays. We thought it would match nicely with exotic scents, so we paired it with jasmine and bergamot (the same oil used to flavor Earl Grey tea).
Because jasmine flowers bloom at night--and the blend of scents is just so darn sexy--we're calling the resulting lip balm La Nuit. We will have it available the rest of the winter.
